Everything you need to know about Prepacks
A complete guide to setting up, managing, and using Prepacks in DigitBridge.
🎁 What is a Prepack?
A Prepack is a predefined assortment of multiple SKUs—often in varying sizes or colors—combined and treated as a single unit for ordering, inventory, and fulfillment. Prepacks are commonly used in apparel, accessories, and other industries where retailers want to buy a balanced mix of variants without selecting each one manually.
Prepacks streamline the buying process and help ensure efficient allocation and distribution.
🧩 When and why to use Prepacks
Use Prepacks when:
-
You want to offer set assortments of sizes or colors under one SKU
-
You want to reduce manual entry during sales or fulfillment
-
Your team builds mixed kits, cartons, or style runs at the warehouse
-
Retailers expect size runs or pre-made packs

Link the prepack to an existing style so it appears as an ordering option - How do I create Prepack SKUs?
Set up a parent SKU representing the full pack - How do I manage Prepack SKUs?
Update, disable, or adjust quantities for existing prepacks - How do I create and fulfill a prepack request?
Generate and fulfill internal instructions to physically build the prepack
Warning: Steps 1-4 must be completed in order before you can attempt to use them in practice (step 5).
✅ Benefits of using Prepacks
-
Streamlined sales workflows:
Buyers don’t need to choose individual sizes or colors—just one SKU for the full set. -
Consistent size and color mixes:
Great for seasonal buys, pop-ups, and new store setups. -
Simplified inventory control:
The system tracks both the prepack SKU and its component items, ensuring clarity and accuracy. -
Faster warehouse operations:
Prepacks can be pre-built and stored, or assembled just-in-time using prepack requests. -
Stronger customer experience:
Buyers get a reliable, well-balanced assortment that’s ready to resell.
💡 Example in action
A streetwear brand sells a unisex hoodie in five sizes (XS–XL). Instead of asking B2B customers to manually select quantities per size, the brand offers a “6-pack size run” prepack.
The prepack SKU includes:
-
1x XS
-
1x S
-
2x M
-
1x L
-
1x XL
A boutique orders 3 prepacks. The system:
-
Allocates 3 of each size per the defined ratio
-
Tracks inventory across both the parent prepack SKU and the underlying components
-
Generates a prepack request for the warehouse to assemble the units before shipping
