How do I assign existing SKUs to 3PL customers?

Use this guide to convert standard SKUs to 3PL products and link them to specific 3PL clients in DigitBridge.

In DigitBridge, products that belong to your 3PL customers must be marked as 3PL Product and assigned to the correct Customer #. This can be done in bulk or one-by-one using different tools in ERP. This guide walks you through both steps: converting existing SKUs into 3PL products and assigning existing SKUs to specific customers.

1. Convert existing SKUs to 3PL product type

If you have inventory that was originally created as a standard (non-3PL) product but should now be classified as 3PL, you can update the product type using either of the following methods: one at a time or in bulk.

Option A: Individually update via Inventory Management

  • Go to Inventory > Product Management.

  • Click on the SKU to get to the Inventory Management screen.

  • Change to Edit mode.
  • Under Inventory Type, select 3PL Product.

  • Click Save.

  • Click Yes.

Option B: Bulk update via Action

  • Go to Inventory > Product Management.

  •  Select the SKUs and click Action.

  • Select Bulk Update.

  • Change the Inventory Type to 3PL Product.
  • Click OK.

  • Click Yes.

2. Assign existing SKUs to specific 3PL customers

Once your SKUs are designated as 3PL inventory, you can assign them to specific customer accounts. This can be done in three ways: individually via the Action menu, in bulk via the Action menu, or in bulk via Customer SKU Management.

Option A: Individually update via Action

  • Go to Inventory > Product Management.

  • Click on the SKU to get to the Inventory Management screen.

  • Switch to Edit mode.
  • Go to Action > Customer SKU.

You may get the below error, but don't worry - you are about to add the data.

  • Enter the Customer # for the customer who will own this SKU.

  • Enter the SKU and the Customer SKU.
    • The SKU is what you will be using, the Customer SKU (if different from the SKU) is how the customer identifies the item. They do not need to be different values, but both must be filled out.
  • Click Save.

  •  Click Yes.

You will get a notification that this was successful.

Option B: Bulk update via Action

  • Go to Inventory > Product Management.

  •  Select the SKUs and click Action.

  • Select Assign to 3PL Customer.

  • Enter the Customer #.
  • Click OK.

You will get a notification that this was successful.

Option C: Bulk update via Customer SKU Management

  • Go to CRM > Customer SKU Management.

You can enter line by line, paste from Excel, or use filters to bulk-select.

  • Line by line is simple: just enter the Customer #, SKU, and Customer SKU.

  • To bulk-select, first enter the Customer # in the field at the top of the grid.
    • This will automatically load any existing SKUs for this customer.
  • Click the magnifying glass icon next to any one of the SKUs.

This will take you to the Select from Inventory List screen.
  • Use the sort and filter tools to find the SKUs you wish to add to this customer.
  • Select them, then click Select.

This will take you back to the Customer SKU Management screen - the new SKUs added at the bottom.
  • Fill out the Customer SKU field.
  • Click Save.

  • Click Yes.

You will get a notification that this was successful.

Note: Customer SKU Management only allows assignment of existing SKUs. You cannot create new products from this screen.

What happens next?

Once saved, these products will be visible to the client in the 3PL Client Portal, where they can create purchase or sales orders, track inventory, and manage product details as needed.
