How do I create a manual ASN for 3PL orders in DigitBridge?
Here is a guide to manually generate and send an ASN (Advanced Shipping Notice) for 3PL orders in DigitBridge.
Note: This guide is for 3PL providers (as opposed to operators who use a 3PL solution).
🚚 What is a Manual ASN?
An ASN (Advanced Shipping Notice) is a digital notice sent to a 3PL client's trading partner to inform them that a shipment is on the way. While most ASNs are auto-generated during fulfillment, DigitBridge allows 3PL Providers to manually create and send ASNs when needed, ensuring flexibility for exceptional cases or non-integrated WMS flows.
✅ When to Use Manual ASN Creation
You may need to manually create an ASN if:
-
The WMS doesn’t support auto-generated ASNs
-
You’re working with a new trading partner and haven’t finalized EDI setup
-
A shipment was fulfilled without triggering an ASN
-
You need to resend an ASN for audit or compliance purposes

⚠️ Tips and Cautions
-
Don’t create a manual ASN if one already exists — this could cause duplication or confusion for your customer or EDI partner
-
Make sure the shipment data is accurate before creating the ASN, including SKU quantities, tracking numbers, and carrier information
-
If working with an EDI trading partner, double-check that the required fields (PO#, ship-to address, etc.) are present and correct
