How do I create and manage a Work in Progress (WIP) job?

Tracking the progress of manufacturing jobs in real time

In DigitBridge, a Work in Progress (WIP) job is how you manage and track the active production of finished goods. A WIP pulls in the BOM, assigns the output SKUs, and allows you to monitor material consumption, processing steps, and final yield.

Where to Create a WIP

Go to Manufacturing > WIP.
Click Apply to view existing jobs or Add to create a new one.

Set Job Info

In the Job Info tab, enter:

  • WIP Job Number: A unique identifier

  • Customer # (optional): Links job to a customer

  • Description: Short description of the production job

  • Type: Choose from:

  • Factory & Warehouses: Assign the product, material, and semi-warehouses relevant to this job

  • Schedule: Start Date, End Date, Due Date

  • Progress Tracking: Progress Rate, Work Hours, Estimated Start/End, and Adjustment Rate

  • Reference: Add notes, instructions, or a channel-specific reference

Add Finished Goods

In the Finished Goods tab, add the SKUs being manufactured:

  • SKU

  • BOM Number: The BOM being used for production

  • WIP Quantity: How many units you plan to produce

You can include multiple SKUs in a single WIP job—each must have an associated BOM.

Add Processes

In the Processes tab, all the steps from the associated BOM(s) will appear.

Each step can be tracked individually. If you're producing multiple SKUs with shared steps, all processes will be grouped together here.

Review Raw Materials

The Raw Material tab shows all the required materials pulled from the BOM(s). These can be cross-referenced with inventory before starting production.

Activity Tab

This tab will log system-generated updates and related actions over time, such as material picks, process updates, and final yield recordings.

Action Buttons

At the top and under the Action menu, you’ll find key tools for managing the job:

  • Start All Processes

  • Finish All Processes

  • Recalculate

  • Pick Material (for in-house steps)

  • Create Outsource PO (for outsourced steps)

  • Update In-House Finish Quantity

  • Finish Goods Yield (closes job and updates inventory)

  • Duplicate WIP

See What actions can I take from the WIP screen? for details.

Save and Track

After filling out the tabs, click Save. You can update the WIP as work progresses, using the recalculate button to reflect changes in progress or yield.
