How do I create Product Codes for my catalog?
There is a fast way to input/import Product Codes for any or all of your items, products, etc.
There are several reasons you might want to assign product codes to your SKUs. Perhaps you sell them under a different product SKU on one of your channels and need to make sure the order information pulls into DigitBridge (DB) correctly. Maybe you want to use a particular product code for an item if it is FBA (Fulfilled by Amazon) to differentiate that from if it was fulfilled in-house. Regardless of the reason, this is easy to achieve in DB.
First, in ERP, go to Inventory > Product Code Entry.
This will open the Product Code Entry screen. Make sure you're in Edit mode!
In this instance, you do not need to add any filters. You should have your SKU and Product Code information in a .csv file (Excel spreadsheet, Google spreadsheet, etc.). Change the headings in your spreadsheet to exactly match what's in DB. You only need the SKU and Product Code, but you can add a Description if you like (e.g., if this product code is only for use with items being sold on Shopify).
Next, select all SKUs, Product Codes, and whatever else you want to enter into DB. Copy them.
Warning: Do not forget to highlight the headers in your spreadsheet as well. Without them, the system will not be able to figure out what data to map into which column.
Back in DB, right-click anywhere in the grid. Click Paste from Excel - Update Grid.
Your SKU as it exists in the DB system, the new Product Code, and new Description will now appear. It may take a few seconds or a couple of minutes depending on how many SKUs you are updating. Click Select All.
Click Save.
Note: You don't need to worry about de-selecting the blank row - you can ignore it.
Caution: Do not forget to click Select All before you Save, or nothing will be saved.
Click Yes.
Product Code Type
You also have the option of assigning a type to each product code. Whether it's an Alias, a unique Case UPC, an FBA Code, or others. This is not a required step, but it is recommended if there is a scenario in which a single SKU could have more than one product code.
