How do I use the Tracking Notes function for 3PL orders?
Here’s how to view and manage internal and external tracking notes for 3PL-related documents in DigitBridge.
Note: This guide is for 3PL providers (as opposed to operators who use a 3PL solution).
DigitBridge allows you to attach both internal and external notes to sales orders and fulfillment records, enabling better communication between 3PL providers, DigitBridge users, and clients.
This guide will walk you through how to enter, view, and interpret these tracking notes.
Where to Find Tracking Notes
In ERP, navigate to:
Sales > Sales Order Management > Select a Sales Order
From here, click into the order and locate the Tracking Notes tab at the top of the screen.
Types of Notes You’ll See
There are two key areas for notes in this section:
-
Order Notes (Client-facing)
These notes are visible to the 3PL client when they access the order via the 3PL Client Portal. -
Fulfillment Notes (Internal Only)
These notes are internal and are used for warehouse or team coordination. They are not shown in the client portal.
🔹 Tip: Use Order Notes to clarify special instructions for the client, and Fulfillment Notes for internal packaging or routing comments.
Adding Notes
To add notes:
-
Click into either the Order Note or Fulfillment Note section.
-
Enter your message. There is no hard character limit, but keep entries clear and concise.
-
Click Save to apply the note to the record.
⚠️ Warning: Notes do not trigger alerts or emails. They are passive fields meant for reference only.
Best Practices
-
Use Order Notes for:
-
Shipment delays or status changes

📌 Note: If your workflow requires client notifications, consider combining note updates with an email alert or Slack message to your client team.
