How to process a partial consignment return

If there is an order out on consignment and the partner sends you back items piecemeal rather than all at once, here is a guide for you to follow.

Often a consignment partner will send back a portion of the order at a time rather than all at once. Another scenario could be that you may want to call back a particular item in order to sell it to another customer (and then send a different item to the consignment partner as a replacement). Here is a workaround until a permanent feature is built for this.

In ERP, go to Sales > Consignment Order Management.

Locate the order in question and click on it.

Make sure you are in Edit Mode.

Click Tracking Notes.

Enter the SKU + RTV + the date it was returned. Click Save.

Tip: The best practice here would be to create a new tracking note for each SKU returned so they can be date/time stamped.

Next, go to Inventory > Warehouse Transfers.

Click Add.

Select your From WHSE # (the virtual warehouse for the consignment partner) and your To WHSE #. Enter your Transfer Date and Receive Date. Enter the SKU(s) being sent back. Enter the CSO (Consignment Sales Order) # in the Notes field at the bottom. Click Save.

Caution: do not enter the S/O # in the S/O # field in this situation.

In Edit Mode, adjust the Shipped Qty value to reflect what was sent. Click Ship.

Click Yes.

In WMS, go to Warehouse Transfer > List. Enter the Batch Number or just click Search and you will see it at the top as an Inbound transfer. Please note that it may take a few minutes to show up in WMS once it has been marked Shipped in ERP. Click Receive.

Click Receive All.

Select General and click Ok.

Click Receive.

Click Receive.

Back in the Warehouse Transfer List, locate the transfer and click Complete.

Click Complete Transfer.

Click Yes.

Back in ERP, open the Warehouse Transfer (you can search by SKU, if you'd like), go into Edit mode, adjust the Received Qty column amount, and click Receive.

Click Yes.

Your inventory will be adjusted to show the item back in the Show Room and not in the virtual warehouse.
