What is the difference between a Bundle SKU and an Assembled SKU?
This article will define the two different types of bundles in DigitBridge and explain how they are different.
There are two bundle concepts in DigitBridge: the Bundle SKU and the Assembled SKU.
Bundle SKU
The Bundle SKU serves as the parent identifier for a collection of individual or component SKUs. In this case, inventory management and cost tracking are focused solely on the individual parts, not the parent bundle itself. For instance, consider a dining set that includes a table and six chairs. While these items are commonly sold together, they can also be purchased separately and do not require assembly before shipping, as each piece is distinct.
Here are some articles about creating bundle SKUs:
Assembled SKU
The Assembled SKU also acts as the parent identifier for a collection of component SKUs. However, in this scenario, the individual parts are tracked in inventory and cost until they are assembled. Once the assembly is complete, the parent SKU becomes the primary focus for inventory and cost tracking. A good example of this is a computer; before shipping, it's essential to monitor the inventory of each individual component. However, when an order is placed, the computer needs to be assembled from these parts.
